Glossary

The glossary below contains many of the terms you will find in common use throughout the Symantec Security Response website. Please refer to this list to find definitions of terms and answers to other Internet security-related questions.

Task

An accessible program function that varies with the view selected in the DLO administration console or Desktop Agent console.

A specific action such as Create a policy or Run an evaluation that the user performs. A collection of predefined tasks defines a role.

An action that is performed on a computer. Server tasks are run on Notification Server. Client tasks are run on managed computers.

A series of steps to be performed on targeted client computers.

A series of steps to be performed on all selected computers. For example, creating an image file, cloning an image file, and applying configuration settings are all tasks.
